Social Security: Will It Still Be There?

The majority of Americans get the bulk of their retirement income from Social Security, and the release of the Trust Fund Annual Report has become a spring ritual. The new report, issued in May, had a few minor—but no major—surprises. Just like every other year, there has been a predictable flurry of general news media coverage since the report was released. Will Social Security still be there? Is it going broke? Are we going to have to live on less money? Your clients are hearing all this. Understanding a few important concepts can help you deal with the concerns they may have.

You will learn:

  • What the report really says vs. what people might hear or read

  • How to deal with client concerns over the sustainability of their future Social Security retirement income

  • What the most significant options are for Social Security reform
