Step Up Your Game with NAIFA

Thursday, March 21st

The National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors (NAIFA) invites you to a free educational & networking event in the Cedar Valley.

We'll jump-start our event with a NAIFA Live watch party featuring FSP Institute keynote speaker, James Aussem, JD, AEP. (CFP credit pending). In this dynamic session, attendees will explore the many facets of financial services exit planning in today’s environment. We'll discuss three different scenarios in the insurance and financial advising space. James will review exit planning guidance and solutions for a financial planning practice, a financial planning and insurance practice, and a practice specializing in Life, Long-Term Care, and Disability Insurance.

Next, catch up on everything that is happening across NAIFA Nation with a State of NAIFA update.

We‘ll round out our educational session with Dick Dobson presenting “Be Understood: Simplified Client Communication Concepts“ (1 Ethics CEC). The ideas examined help clients to more easily understand basic economic and financial concepts in ways that are easily recalled. This helps reduce misunderstanding and dissatisfaction and complaints. Advisors owe it to their clients to be clear and understood as they describe the matters at hand, this class will give them new tools to use for this purpose.

Our day will wrap up with time network as we watch for some Bracketbusters in the 19th Hole!

NAIFA Live: NAVIGATING THE COMPLEX ISSUES OF AFFLUENT FAMILIES AND CLOSELY HELD BUSINESSES: A VIEW FROM A COLLABORATIVE TEAM
James Aussem, JD, AED
Using the case study format, James will lead the discussion. The goal will be to provide a family business with guidance and solutions on issues such as the need for an estate plan, possible insurance for key person purposes, balancing the estate equities, retaining key employees, general risk management, income tax issues, as well as the clear need for a comprehensive retirement/financial plan. The nontechnical “soft issues” add a layer of analysis, making the case study both challenging and entertaining.
