Dawn D. Hallman, JD is the Principal Attorney and founder of Hallman & Associates. As a nationally recognized estate and tax planning attorney, she has over 25 years of experience creatively helping clients plan their legacy, protect their assets, and save taxes. Dawn currently serves on American Cancer Society’s All in Against Cancer Campaign Cabinet, and Co-Chairs ACS’s National Gift Planning Advisor Council (NGPAC).
Dawn has written numerous articles and papers, and frequently lectures on topics related to her practice. She co-author of the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Electronic Form Book on Estate Planning. Dawn also pioneered Installment Sales Trusts, or Deferred Sales Trusts. She also creatively includes charitable planning in her practice, designed to both save taxes and leave a philanthropic legacy. In 2023, American Cancer Society named Dawn the Estate Planning Ambassador of the Year.

Thomas E. Herr, JD is a Partner with Dunn Law Firm, LLP. A third-generation lawyer, he has the privilege of representing multiple generations of families and businesses throughout the State of Illinois. His goal is to simplify sophisticated estate, tax, real estate, and transactional concepts, educate clients, and formulate plans and strategies for tax savings and wealth transfer. Tom has handled virtually every type of estate and trust matter, from simple estates and trusts to complex planning and administration of estates over $65 million. Tom guides the variety of techniques that allow clients to make tax-advantaged gifts to charities. Tom has assisted clients in creating lifetime and testamentary charitable lead trusts, charitable remainders trusts, and private foundations. In addition, he reviews and prepares fiduciary tax returns, private foundation returns, and estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax returns. Tom received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame, his J.D. from the Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago-Kent College of Law, and was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1992. He has practiced in numerous Illinois Circuit Courts, Illinois Appellate Court, U.S. District Court, and U.S. Tax Court. He is a member of the McLean County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. Tom is the recipient of the American Cancer Society’s 2021 National Professional Advisor of the Year award, the American Cancer Society’s 2017 Illinois Advisor of the Year award, and a member of the American Cancer Society National Professional Advisor Network.

For those requesting credits, a certificate of completion will be emailed to you about a week after the webinar, upon successful completion of the webinar. For CFP® credit, NAIFA will report your credit to the CFP Board for you after the webinar.
